Fr. Phil Reinheimer is actively involved in interim ministry in this Diocese. He is a retired human services executive and lives in Penn Valley (near Grass Valley) with wife Vicki and Gertie and Gracie (terrier sisters). Phil and Vicki have 3 grown children. Phil has previously served as interim priest at Emmanuel, Grass Valley, St. John's, Roseville, and Trinity, Sutter Creek. He loves California history and is excited to be part of St. John's rich historical tradition as we move forward in 2011.
The Rev. Sara Aseltine is a native of California and has been at St. John's for 18 years. She attended UCLA and San Diego State. While at San Diego State, she received her degree in Special Education. She attended the Divinity School for Deacons and was ordained in 1993. She taught school in California for 32 years, fiftteen of those in Special Education. She is married to Arthur Wylie Aseltine, Jr. and has four children, 4 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Gus found his way to St. John's in August, 2007, hanging around our Food Shelf, lonely, thin and hungry. There was something special about him; so we decided to take care of him and let him reside at the church, naming him "August", better known as "Gus". He has won the hearts of many of the parishioners and is always ready to assist in the office (if you call "sitting on your lap while one is trying to type" - assisting). This past year he was highlighted in our local newspaper, and has became quite the celebrity! In October when we have a "Blessing of the Animals" outdoor service, he shows signs of jealousy; due to the many cats and dogs in his territory! Watch for his own corner in our monthly newsletter.
